Ethena (ENA) has announced a significant modification to its tokenomics. The update brings about new requirements for individuals who have obtained ENA altcoin through airdrops, effective June 17.
As per the official blog post of the cryptocurrency project, users who acquire ENA from the segment subject to the qualifying terms of the Shard Campaign airdrop, for instance, will now need to lock in a minimum of 50% of the claimable ENA received from the distribution. The locking can be done through one of the three options specified in the initial section of the blog post.
Failure to adhere to these new guidelines will lead to the redistribution of all unclaimed ENA belonging to the user’s relevant wallet. This redistribution will be among other users who have locked ENA on i) Ethena locking service, ii) PT-ENA on Pendle (on any chain) or iii) Symbiotic Restaking.

The developers of ENA have indicated that as the ecosystem offers more use cases for ENA, the options for locking $ENA for these purposes may broaden.
According to the ENA team, tokens confiscated from users who fail to comply with the above regulations will only be redistributed to users:
“None of the ENA lost due to non-compliance with the above conditions will be acquired by the foundation, team, or investors, but will solely benefit users in harmony with the ecosystem.”
