Fake Cryptocurrency App Alert in App Store – Rises to the Top as One of the Most Downloaded
A fraudulent app pretending to be the popular decentralized finance (DeFi) platform Curve Finance has managed to penetrate the Apple App Store and has now ranked among the top 100 finance apps as of October 26.
Dubbed “Curve DeFi v3,” this fake app poses a significant threat to unsuspecting users, despite being flagged as a scam in multiple reviews. Created by an individual named “Tao Duong Van,” the app cleverly imitates the legitimate Curve Finance logo and functionality to deceive potential victims. This deceptive strategy has allowed the app to gain popularity in various regions, including Europe, Latin America, New Zealand, the United States, and Southeast Asia.
Although the majority of user reviews on the App Store rate the app with one star and explicitly label it as a “scam” or “hacker,” the app is still available for download. This raises concerns about potential financial losses among users who may mistake the fake app for the genuine Curve Finance platform.
At the time of writing, Curve Finance has not released any official statements or warnings regarding this fraudulent activity.
