Cryptocurrency Wallet App Crashes, Users Experience Incorrect Balances
The well-known multi-chain Web3 wallet, Phantom, associated with Solana, recently experienced an unexpected crash, causing disruptions for its users. According to SolanaFloor, the wallet suffered a major backend incident, resulting in incorrect account balances and service interruptions during the GRASS token airdrop.
Phantom acknowledged the “outage event” that had been ongoing for over an hour, affecting users’ ability to view accurate balances. However, the browser extension and mobile app remained functional, and the company assured users that their funds were secure. They also provided instructions for continuing transactions if necessary.
The timing of the crash coincided with the highly anticipated GRASS token airdrop, which distributed 10% of the total token supply. Many users reported issues accessing their correct account balances, causing concern about airdrop claims.
At the time of the last update, Phantom’s status page reported a “major issue,” and the team was actively working to resolve the situation. Despite the reassurance that funds were secure, users expressed disappointment on social media due to the incident occurring during a critical airdrop window.
