Transfer Activity Detected in Cryptocurrency Assets Held by US Government
Recent data from Onchain reveals that there has been movement in cryptocurrencies under the control of the US government.
According to the information, the US government has transferred some of the assets it confiscated from the Bitfinex hacker. These cryptocurrency wallets had been inactive for 8 months until now.
The data shows that the US government withdrew around $20 million worth of stablecoins, including USDC and USDT, from the decentralized cryptocurrency platform Aave. These funds were then transferred to a different cryptocurrency wallet.
What’s interesting is that all the funds were moved to a single crypto wallet address.
As of now, the US government holds a significant amount of cryptocurrency, with a total value of around $14.14 billion. These assets are spread across various wallets and consist of $13.77 billion in Bitcoin.
Surprisingly, the US government also possesses altcoins, which were seized through different means. These altcoins include $126 million worth of Ethereum, $121 million worth of USDT, $50.77 million worth of WBTC, $23.86 million worth of BNB, $13.18 million worth of BUSD, $10.14 million worth of USDC, $8 million worth of DAI, $2.5 million worth of TRX, $2.40 million worth of UNI, $1.42 million worth of RNDR, $1.26 million worth of BAND, and several other less valuable cryptocurrencies.
