Ripple Co-Founder Donates $10 Million XRP to Kamala Harris’ Campaign – Ripple CEO Supports Crypto-Friendly Policies
Chris Larsen, one of the co-founders and chairman of Ripple, has made a significant contribution of over $11.8 million to Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign. According to data from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) analyzed by blockchain analyst James Delmore and verified by CNBC, Larsen donated $9.9 million to Future Forward, a super PAC supporting Harris, and over $800,000 to the Harris Victory Fund in September.
In addition to his monetary contributions, Larsen also announced a donation of $10 million worth of Ripple’s digital currency, XRP, to support Harris. Larsen believes that the Democratic Party needs to adopt a new approach to technology and innovation, specifically in the cryptocurrency field. He stated, “I believe that Kamala Harris will ensure that American technology dominates the world, so I am donating $10 million from XRP to support her.”
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse expressed his gratitude to Larsen for his contributions and highlighted the importance of bipartisan support for crypto-friendly policies. He stated, “We need to immediately change course on this administration’s misguided war on crypto.” Garlinghouse emphasized Ripple’s intention to collaborate with both Democrats and Republicans to advance blockchain innovation and promote pro-crypto policies.
Larsen’s endorsement of Harris is based on personal conversations with campaign insiders, and he has confidence in Harris’ understanding of the tech sector. Harris, who is based in the Bay Area, has long been associated with Silicon Valley and the innovation economy. Larsen, who has supported candidates from both parties in recent years, believes that Harris’ tech-savvy approach is in stark contrast to the Biden administration, which he feels lacks a clear vision to strengthen U.S. tech leaders.
Larsen has been financially supporting Harris since earlier this year, with donations made to her campaign and PACs. His net worth, estimated at $3.1 billion by Forbes, comes primarily from his holdings in XRP and his involvement with Ripple.
