New Bitcoin Offer from Mt.Gox Creditors After a Decade of Waiting
Mt.Gox creditors are eagerly seeking swift Bitcoin transfers from BitBank, bypassing the usual 14-day waiting period. Recently, Mt.Gox initiated refunds, with on-chain data indicating substantial Bitcoin transfers to BitBank and other wallets. Users on Reddit confirmed BitBank’s reception of Bitcoin (BTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH), matching the amounts disclosed by Mt.Gox.
Today, Mt.Gox transferred 1,544.67 BTC (approximately $84.87 million) to BitBank’s hot wallet, as per available data. Users are pressing for immediate access to their funds, and BitBank has responded promptly. Reports from The Block Pro reveal that Bitcoin refunds were disbursed to users within hours, contrary to the standard 14-day timeframe requested by creditors.
While different exchanges like Kraken, Bitstamp, BitGo, SBI VC Trade, and BitBank have varying refund processing times (up to 90 days for Kraken, 60 days for Bitstamp, 20 days for BitGo, and 14 days for SBI VC Trade and BitBank), creditors are advocating for expedited transactions. Former Mt.Gox CEO Mark Karpeles acknowledged the long journey, expressing relief that customers are finally receiving their long-awaited Bitcoins.
“This marks a significant milestone after years of anticipation,” stated Karpeles.
