German MP Joana Cotar has urged the government to halt its Bitcoin sales, citing adverse impacts on market prices. The recent sell-offs by the German government, in tandem with Mt.Gox refunds, precipitated a sharp decline in BTC value. Cotar emphasized these sales’ negative repercussions on Bitcoin’s price and the broader market, conveying her concerns to CDU deputy chairman Michael Kretschmer, Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner, and Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Stressing Bitcoin’s utility as a diversification and inflation hedge, Cotar proposed a conference with advocate Samson Mow on October 17. Additionally, Tron Founder Justin Sun expressed readiness to purchase Germany’s government-held Bitcoins over-the-counter to mitigate market disruptions.
