Coinbase Futures has officially submitted an application to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) aiming to introduce regulated futures contracts for SHIB, LINK, AVAX, XLM, and DOT.
Up until this development, Coinbase had exclusively offered futures trading options for Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Dogecoin. The trading of Bitcoin and Litecoin futures commenced on April 1st, followed by the introduction of Dogecoin futures later that same month. Traditionally, Coinbase’s futures services were accessible solely through its global platform, Coinbase International.
However, the company is currently making efforts to extend these futures services to the United States. Given that the CFTC monitors commodities that are classified as non-securities in the US, the submission of Coinbase’s application is critical for the future prospects of these assets.
