Blast, a Layer 2 network built on Ethereum, made a surprising announcement today regarding the establishment of a foundation to oversee its protocol. This revelation came just two days before the scheduled token airdrop for the protocol.
Previously, the management of Blast’s X account and website was handled by Arcade Research, a company dedicated to Blast’s development. In a move towards a decentralized management structure, the control of Blast’s Twitter account, website, and protocol has now shifted to the newly established foundation.
A post indicated that the foundation’s purpose is to support the community in realizing the Blast Vision, set to be unveiled publicly on June 26.

The breakdown of Blast tokens into various categories remains somewhat ambiguous. A recent breakdown shared on X suggests the possibility of four to five categories, depending on the distribution to different wallet addresses. Speculation has arisen that Blur farmers might be among the recipients of these tokens.
The project has disclosed that “50% of the Blast Airdrop is allocated to Blast Points,” with users earning points automatically for each block based on their wallet balance. Blast Gold aims to stimulate further growth in decentralized applications (dapps) by requiring Dapps to allocate 100% of the Gold they earn to their users, as stated by the project.
