Solana Developer Unveils Revolutionary Breakthrough for SOL, Says “Big News is Here”
Mert Mumtaz, a key developer in the Solana ecosystem, has announced a groundbreaking update that is set to transform the blockchain industry.
As the CEO of Helius, a development platform within the Solana ecosystem, Mumtaz took to Twitter to reveal the introduction of the Zero Knowledge (ZK) compression feature directly on Solana’s Layer 1 (L1), eliminating the need for Layer 2 (L2).
According to Mumtaz, this new feature will revolutionize the scaling of Solana and L1s, with on-chain data compression delivering a 10,000x improvement in scalability.
The introduction of ZK compression is expected to significantly enhance Solana’s network scalability, allowing developers to build and scale applications directly on the chain without the need to go elsewhere.
Mumtaz also emphasized the substantial cost reductions that come with this update, citing the example of airdropping 1 million users. Previously costing over $260,000, this procedure now only costs $50, representing a remarkable 5,200-fold reduction.
“Big news has arrived,” Mumtaz declared, signaling a new era for Solana and the broader blockchain industry.
