Is a New FUD Born? German Government Moves Bitcoin Again – Hot Moments
Controversy arises as the German government transfers some of its Bitcoin holdings to stock exchanges.
According to data from Arkham, a cryptocurrency analysis company, ongoing activity is observed in the German government’s Bitcoin holdings.
Germany has reportedly sold over $195 million worth of Bitcoin thus far.
Recent data reveals that the German government transferred $65 million to two different groups suspected of having links to exchanges, including Coinbase, within the last two hours.
Yesterday, Germany moved $600 million worth of BTC, with $130 million being transferred to four different cryptocurrency exchanges, including Kraken and Bitstamp.
At present, Germany holds approximately $3.05 billion worth of BTC. It remains unknown whether the remaining amount will be transferred to cryptocurrency exchanges and the potential impact this may have on Bitcoin.
In related news, German police confiscated around 50,000 BTC, valued at over $2 billion at the time, from the operators of Movie2k.to, a pirated movie site that was active in 2013. The Bitcoins were received by the police in mid-January through a voluntary transfer from the suspects, according to Arkham.
