Speaking at a meeting of the Russian Senate Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building, Head of the Federal Bailiff Service (FSSP) Dmitry Aristov called Bitcoin a “problem asset.”
FSSP head Aristov said that they are working to sell the seized BTCs in response to a Senator’s question about “protocols for confiscating cryptocurrencies.”
Aristov added that Russia should first of all determine the legal status of Bitcoin in Russia.
The first target of this move is likely to be a bribery case involving 1,032.1 BTC, which was seized and transferred to the Treasury.
